Toward wellbeing of all children and families

The Shirayuri Research Institute for Psychology and Social Work have the following five pillars in their practice to ensure the healthy development of children and promote psychological wellbeing and welfare through academic research and practice.

Practice and Research on Psychology and Social Work

We participate in the research and practice of psychology and social work to increase our wellbeing.  We especially value efforts that promote a broad range of social welfare. Through collaborating with interdisciplinary professionals, we identify challenges in the community and conduct action-oriented research to improve and resolve them .

Shirayuri Counseling Center

The Shirayuri Counseling Center of the Shirayuri Research Institute for Psychology and Social Work provides a broad range of psychological services including individual psychotherapy, play therapy, parent counseling, psychological assessments, and Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) to community members .

Support Supporters: Consultation/Outreach/Supervision

As a part of community support, we support supporters in social work involved in nursing, child abuse, DV, hikikomori, and other psychosocial issues. Professionals with extensive experience in psychology and social work provide onsite consultation or individual or group supervision to meet the needs of supporters .

Development and Implementation of Professional Training on Psychology and Social Work

We develop and implement training to improve the quality of support activities for practitioners in various fields. In addition, we send appropriate professionals and researchers to local communities .

Academic Journal on Psychology/Social Work

We publish an academic journal on psychology and social work. The journal is issued annually and is evolved from “Boshi Kenkyu (research on mother and child).”
